Company Background
Welcome to Jupiter Sports.
Let us briefly explain why golf resorts such as Pinehurst,
Pebble Beach, St. Andrews (Home of Golf), The Broadmoor, Ballantyne Resort and
private country clubs such as Firestone, Round Hill, Hamlet Windwatch are using
the Jupiter Sports’ Engraving System.
Approximately six (6) years ago our President (Bill
MacKay) joined a private country club in Florida. Along with his membership and
annual dues for this privilege, he received a plastic bag tag with his name
printed from a dymo tape system and stuck to the back of his new club ID. They
proudly informed him they treated their members like V.I.P.’s – Mr. MacKay did
not see it quite the same way with his new plastic ID attached to his golf bag.
After much analysis, Mr. MacKay realized there had to be a more prestigious
product to honor a new club member with and began to inquire of other bag tag
products offered at similar country clubs around the country.
To his surprise he soon learned that:
1. Club Pros’ who believe their members would not appreciate a quality bag tag
are not in true touch with their clientele; just look in the parking lot and
notice the types of cars club members own to understand they value quality.
2. Many country clubs and resorts have beautifully designed full-color logos
proudly representing their organization. Plastic, pewter, leather, and bronze
did not do justice to the elegantly crafted logos displayed by most clubs or
resorts.
With this newly found knowledge, Mr. MacKay decided to produce his own line of
bag tags that would represent a clubs’ logo in full-color as it was meant to be
displayed and, at the same time, be durable and long-lasting.
After much research, he came up with a winning solution; a solid brass or
stainless steel bag tag that would not chip or tarnish when attached to the golf
bag and was multifunctional.
The first and foremost function for his new durable bag tag is to proudly
represent the club you became a member of and secondly, to easily identify the
member and his bag location in the bag room to the club or resort staff.
This second function was thoughtfully accomplished by permanently engraving the
members name on the back of the tag. In addition to a member’s name, Mr. MacKay
realized many club members have earned well recognized titles associated with
their names and agreed to offer up to three (3) lines of personalization
permanently engraved on any tag.
With his new product proudly in hand, Bill MacKay (having contemplated
retirement) set forth and established Jupiter Sports, Inc.
JSI’s first big sale was to the PGA of America. The bag tag was presented in a
meeting of the merchandise coordinators. They immediately liked the product, but
had already committed to selling a plastic version at the PGA Championship. The
Director of Merchandise asked if Jupiter Sports could engrave our bag tags
on-site at the PGA Tournament. Bill emphatically answered, “…but of course…”,
and that gave birth to on-site engraving of bag tags.
JSI graciously thanked the PGA of America for their acknowledgement of their
product and thus began on-site engraving with the PGA Championship at Wingfoot
Country Club in 1997. Presently, Jupiter Sports displays its’ products at 15 to
20 major tournaments a year. These major tournaments include the Men’s, Women’s
& Seniors U.S. Open; the Ryder Cup; the British Open; the Bay Hill; the Byron
Nelson and many more. Their entire product line has been accepted by spectators
from all over the world.
While attending most major (and local) tournaments, club pros often visit the
JSI display booth to inquire about changing their bag tag product to a
high-quality personalized engraved product. Jupiter Sports will accept most
forms of digital logo artwork and then produce a full-color logo bag tag product
at a minimal cost. Many ask how they too could engrave their own tag at their
club facility. The available engraving devices ranged from $7,000 to $10,000 and
were bulky, noisy and confusing to operate. This was discouraging to most.
Again, Jupiter Sports seized the moment.
After spending a year finding the right company and engineer group, JSI designed
their own system that was affordable, clean, quite and friendly.
Known as the Jupiter Sports Engraving System complete with included K.I.S.S.
software (Keep it Simple Software), the system connects to any computer just
like a printer. The auto-running CD is up and running within 15 minutes. This
engraving system quickly becomes a profit center for your private club or
resort.
Personalization sells products – JSI has proven this at tournaments time and
time again. Before on-site engraving was available, sales were marginal. Now
with a high-quality product and personalizing on-site, JSI sells thousands of
products at each event.
Product sales have increased at all of the Jupiter Sports Engraving System
installations. Members are proud to purchase products as gifts for their guest.
Golfers who visit St. Andrews to play that once in a lifetime round on the Old
Course, can return with a special remembrance of a personalized bag tag with the
Old Course logo, the date and their name engraved proudly displayed on their
golf bag.
To help private clubs or resorts justify the cost of an engraver, JSI has
designed a multifunctional interchangeable template system to accommodate more
than just bag tags. JSI products with country club logos range from:
3” & 2” bag tags, money clips, oval key or round key chains, divot repair tool
and a business card holder. All of these products are engraved using one simple
template firmly holding the products in place while being personalized. To
further enhance the JSI Engraving System, a second template is provided for
engraving locker door name plates, employee badges and trophy name plates
eliminating the need for outside engraving services.
